June 7, 2021

Sunday, June 13:

Ez 17:22-24/2 Cor 5:6-10/Mk 4:26-34

2 Corinthians 5:6-10 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

6 So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord— 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil.

2 Cor 6:1-10/Mt 5:38-42

Matthew 5:38-42 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, Do not resist an evildoer. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also; 40 and if anyone wants to sue you and take your coat, give your cloak as well; 41 and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile. 42 Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.

2 Cor 8:1-9/Mt 5:43-48

Matthew 5:43-48 New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? 48 So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

2 Cor 9:6-11/Mt 6:1-6, 16-18

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)

6 Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. 9 As it is written:

“He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor;
    his righteousness endures forever.”

10 The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.

11 You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God,

2 Cor 11:1-11/Mt 6:7-15

Matthew 6:7-15 American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)

 7 In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This is how you are to pray:

Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
10     your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
        on earth as in heaven.
11     Give us today our daily bread;
12     and forgive us our debts,
        as we forgive our debtors;
13     and do not subject us to the final test,
        but deliver us from the evil one.

14 If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.

2 Cor 11:18, 21-30/Mt 6:19-23

Matthew 6:19-23 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light; 23 but if your eye is unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

2 Cor 12:1-10/Mt 6:24-34

Matthew 6:24-34 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

24 “No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? 28 And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 “So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
